The Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan represents a vision to create an extraordinary, new, vibrant, luxury, world-class 556-acre community along the waterfront in San Diego Bay. Decades in the planning, the Chula Vista Bayfront will consist of a contemporary urban village nestled into a beautiful natural bayfront environment. The community planning is a result of the collaboration between many vested parties, including the City of Chula Vista, The Port Authority of San Diego, Pacifica Companies, Environmental Groups and the State Coastal Commission. The mixed-use master plan will consist of millions of square feet of retail, office, hotels, residential units, and convention center space, making this truly a place where people can live, work, and play. Within the master plan area, 70 acres would be dedicated as wildlife preserve, 88 acres for public parklands, and 75 acres would be useable open space. The community will protect and restore sensitive animal habitats, plant species, and birds as well as feature sustainable building design features to reduce the consumption of electricity & water and reduce impacts to the natural environment. Construction of the community will take 15-20 years and is anticipated to start in 2019.
